Meet the psychologists

Domen Pardo MSc.

Originally from Slovenia, I lived in Czechia from the age of ten and after completing international education there, I moved to the Netherlands to study psychology. I completed both my Bachelor's and Master's studies at Erasmus University Rotterdam, specializing in Clinical Psychology. Having found myself interested in addiction, I wrote my Bachelor’s thesis on the topic of alcohol use. Later, I carried out research on MDMA use and its connections to personality characteristics. On top of the therapy I provide at a private practice, I also worked in a psychiatric clinic, gaining experience with addiction and other mental health struggles. I am based in Rotterdam and provide therapy in English, Slovenian, and Serbo-Croatian.

In my sessions, I provide a space for open and honest communication, where we work collaboratively to help you process the past, problem-solve the present, and prepare for the future with goals and expectations. I am there to support you through tough life situations, help you reflect, and teach you skills to cope with both your internal and external struggles. Together, we deconstruct life patterns and explore the possible causes. We work to replace unhelpful coping strategies with more positive ones. We also explore the connections between your thoughts and emotions and their origins. I help you change your thinking to become more realistic and positive, as well as to deal with negative emotions.

Liliane Thoelen MSc.

Originally from France and Belgium, I have lived the majority of my life in the United States and South Korea. I moved to The Netherlands for my studies, where I’ve completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and a master’s degree in clinical psychology along with a second specialization in legal and forensic psychology.  During this time, I was also able to carry out research on how people suffering from depression respond to feedback learning, which allowed me to adjust and find different ways of working and helping clients with certain disorders.

In the past, I have worked as a psychologist at a psychiatric crisis center. In addition to Free Mind, I am currently working at a specialized treatment center. These past and current experiences have given me the opportunity to continuously develop and expand my therapeutic skills across various types of psychotherapy.

As a psychologist, my therapeutic alliance with my clients is of top priority. To ensure a healthy therapeutic relationship, I put great emphasis on honest and open communication with my clients. That way, I am able to adapt and accommodate my treatment style to your individual needs and cultural background. I provide sessions with the use of various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy (MBCT), schema therapy (ST), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), etc.  I am based in Rotterdam and provide therapy in French and English.
